Chiang Mai is an amazing city. THE nicest people, Wilder for sure than Amsterdam ANYTHING you want is available. Anything you desire. There is food everywhere, spas everywhere, massages on the street, people making stuff out of just about anything and trying to sell it. Tea leaf pillows, clothes pins on a string, tiny sewn rabbits stuffed with sand, knit birds on key chains, silver sewn on hats by hill tribe people,hand made purses,d on and on and on.......it is hard to look up and appreciate the full moon t that seems to have lasted for days or notice anything else around you. I have just been walking around with my mouth hanging open. It is Saturday night in CM....Every night has it's own festival. We have heard that the Sunday night festival will have everything we can imagine and more but we just got back from .....
.... what we thought was a silver festival but it turned out it was a street festival on a street that has silver shops. There must have been 10,000 tourists walking around, mostly Thai from all over and it went on for miles and miles into alleys and lots. We got so absorbed in the stuff they were selling we actually missed a meal. unbelievable. We did manage to get a snack of mangos and sticky rice delivered to our room this afternoon before taking off again by our new guide and it was perfectly delicious but it was hours and hours ago. Dale and I enjoyed a tuk tuk ride to the old city in search of great silver.We found that and so much more. We both ran out of money and of course everything is cash only. I had to leave behind precious objects that I needed because there were no ATM's in sight. I may never find those dingle balls again AND I didn't get a massage today, however we are being picked up by a spa at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow for treatments at the "Oasis". Yup, they will come and fetch you. I guess I can wait. Dale is already asleep. It is exhausting hunting for treasure.. Enjoy the picture show....
